چکیده

The effectiveness of a three-dimensional mixed-flow turbulence model describing airspeed and temperature distribution in a laboratory scale slot-ventilated chamber was evaluated. Airspeed and temperature profiles were investigated near the inlet jet region and along an axial line extending from the inlet. The observed jet-floor impingement location was accurately predicted^ with a maximum difference of 18% (Ax/L = 0.18), Average building temperature as a Junction of the inlet corrected Archimedes Number was also accurately predicted. Differences between measured and predicted values were 5,0% or less. Airspeed and temperature profiles near the inlet and along an axial line from the inlet were compared and large localized errors were found.

Numerical Predictions of Turbulent Mixed Convection Heat Transfer to Supercritical Fluids Using Various Low Reynolds Number k-e Turbulence Models

There are a number of systems in which supercritical cryogenic fluids are used as coolants or propellant fluids. In some modern military aircraft, the fuel is pressurized above its critical point and used as a coolant to remove heat from the aircraft engine. Accurate prediction of heat transfer coefficients to turbulent flows of supercritical fluids is essential in design of such systems. One o...

Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Subsonic Compressible Flow through Rectangular Microchannel

In this study, turbulent compressible gas flow in a rectangular micro-channel is numerically investigated. The gas flow assumed to be in the subsonic regime up to Mach number about 0.7. Five low and high Reynolds number RANS turbulence models are used for modeling the turbulent flow. Two types of mesh are generated depending on the employed turbulence model. The computations are performed for R...

Non-Darcian Mixed Convection Flow in Vertical Composite Channels with Hybrid Boundary Conditions

In this article, the effects of viscous dissipation and inertial force on the velocity and temperature distributions of the mixed convection laminar flow in a vertical channel partly filled with a saturated porous medium have been studied. In this regard, the Brinkman–Forchheimer extended Darcy model was adopted for the fluid flow in the porous region. In addition, three different viscous dissi...

Three-dimensional Buoyant Turbulent Flows in a Scaled Model, Slot-ventilated, Livestock Conhnement Facility

A three-dimensional turbulence model was used to determine the effects of animal-generated buoyant forces on the airflow patterns and temperature and airspeed distributions in a ceiling-slot, ventilated, swine grower facility. The model incorporated the Lam-Bremhorst turbulence model for low-Reynolds Number airflow typical of slot-ventilated, livestock facilities. The predicted results from the...

Parametric study of a viscoelastic RANS turbulence model in the fully developed channel flow

One of the newest of viscoelastic RANS turbulence models for drag reducing channel flow with polymer additives is studied in different flow and rheological properties. In this model, finitely extensible nonlinear elastic-Peterlin (FENE-P) constitutive model is used to describe the viscoelastic effect of polymer solution and turbulence model is developed in the k-ϵ-(ν^2 ) ̅-f framework. The geome...
